how to make a soap box canvas

Happy Earth Day.

Recycling is a big part of what this day is all about...educating and 

inspiring everyone to be more mindful of the state of the Earth

and the many things,.....big and small, that we can do to help.

Here is a recycling project that I hope you enjoy.

For this project, use empty soap boxes or 

any other kind of box you can recycle.

Adhere masking tape along the opening and around the box.

This will make the piece a bit stronger.

To strengthen and to achieve a some-what neutral surface, 

use Mod Podge® to adhere pieces of book pages to the box.

Gather up your acrylic paints

Paint the box any color of your choice.

Here I am using  a lovely Folk Art® color called Jamaican Sea by Plaid®

Add more paint, collage items, rubber stamping, or doodling to the box.



Paint or collage directly on the soap box canvas, or make a copy
of your original art work and adhere it with Mod Podge®.

Display and enjoy.
